Rethink Sugary Drink

Rethink Sugary Drink is a partnership between Cancer Council Australia, Diabetes Australia and the National Heart Foundation of Australia.

We are active supporters of the alliance, along with the Australian Dental Association, Dental Health Services Victoria, Nutrition Australia, the Obesity Policy Coalition, the National Stroke Foundation and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation.

The consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (e.g., soft drinks and sports drinks) can be associated with obesity, which is a leading risk factor for type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some cancers.

By highlighting the amount of sugar in sweetened beverages, the alliance hopes to encourage Australians to switch to water, reduced-fat milk or unsweetened options.
